Sunrise Real Estate

People first got attracted to the remote area of Broward County where Sunrise is located because of the famous upside-down house Mr. Norman Johnson used as a marketing gimmick to sell his model homes back in the 1960s.

The city was originally named Sunrise Golf Village, but changed its name to the City of Sunrise in 1971. In the mid-1980s the city faced serious difficulties, such as very few economic opportunities and the absence of appropriate municipal services. However, within a few years, Sunrise transformed into a prominent municipality in South Florida.

Today, the City of Sunrise has a growing job market. It boasts the biggest corporate office park in South Florida, which has made it emerge as the county’s commerce leader. It has also developed as a cosmopolitan city, offering both visitors and residents a variety of spaces to enjoy arts, dining, and great entertainment.

As for the real estate market in Sunrise, the median home sale price is $167,000 and the median monthly apartment rent is $1,770. The median family income is over $52,100 and about 80% of the residents are homeowners. The cost of living is currently 1.7% higher than the U.S. average (2017).
