The city was originally owned by the Everglades Plantation Company – hence its name – and it was originally conceived as a co-operative farmer’s market. Nowadays, Plantation is home to several important national companies while still managing to keep its original hometown appeal. It offers the safe and secure environment of a small community, as well as the conveniences of a big city.

The real estate market in Plantation is neutral right now and remains stable, with a median home sales price of $274,500 and a median monthly apartment rent of $2,100. The average family income is approximately $71,700 and 85% of the population are homeowners. The cost of living is 21% higher than the national average (2017).
