Plantation Real Estate

Plantation’s motto “where the grass is greener” may sound a bit pretentious, but with thousands of trees surrounding its nice neighborhoods and excellent recreation facilities, the City of Plantation certainly has a natural environment that is unmatched by any other city in South Florida.

Since its incorporation in Broward County in 1953, Plantation has developed into a dynamic community with an estimated population of 88,328 (2016). It is about 15 to 20 minutes from Port Everglades, the center of Fort Lauderdale, and the Hollywood international airport. The city also offers easy access to West Palm Beach and Downtown Miami.

The city was originally owned by the Everglades Plantation Company – hence its name – and it was originally conceived as a co-operative farmer’s market. Nowadays, Plantation is home to several important national companies while still managing to keep its original hometown appeal. It offers the safe and secure environment of a small community, as well as the conveniences of a big city.

The real estate market in Plantation is neutral right now and remains stable, with a median home sales price of $274,500 and a median monthly apartment rent of $2,100. The average family income is approximately $71,700 and 85% of the population are homeowners. The cost of living is 21% higher than the national average (2017).
