Palmetto Real Estate

Palmetto is an oceanfront city in Manatee County, on Florida’s Gulf Coast. Its name came from the palmetto trees found in the area where the town was originally founded. It has a population of about 13,200 (2015).

Palmetto’s first settlers arrived in the mid-1800s, attracted by the site’s proximity to the Manatee River. The region soon became prominent for the suitability of the climate and the fertility of the soil, as much as for its hospitable character.

The City of Palmetto offers a variety of entertaining and recreational options, including a dozen parks and playgrounds, events and festivals, tennis and basketball courts, and an estuary park adjacent to the Manatee River. Housing options, on the other hand, include country club communities, historic downtown old-Florida homes, and single-family waterfront homes.

The cost of living in Palmetto is 1% lower than the national average. The median household income is $39,600. About 80% of the population are homeowners. Real estate is very hot right now (tilted towards a sellers market). The median home price is $171,600 and the median monthly apartment rent is $1,550 (2017).
